OUR HISTORY
Nzuri Gems was founded by Saidi Bakari—a first generation Tanzanian, South African American. His passion for gemstones spurred from a trip to Botswana’s Orapa diamond mine (the world’s largest), taken while he was studying as a youth in South Africa. A graduate of The Kogod School of Business at American University, Mr. Bakari established Nzuri Gems in 2015, after earning several colored stone certificates from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Along his journey, he developed our core values: 1) People and profits are not at odds and 2) Educate our customers, if they are interested. He regularly travels to the African continent to procure the finest jewels-which we offer at Nzuri Gems.
